Summerland Athlete Picked for BC Team

Kelsey Pew of Summerland is amoung the athletes chosen for a select team of Ringette players, who will represent BC at the 1999 Canada Winter Games.

A total of 21 players have been selected for the team, which will be pared down to 17 for the Games.

Over the next six months, the team will get together every other week for a weekend long training session. The team will also travel to other provinces to participate in pre-games tournaments against other provincial Canada Winter Games teams. At one such recent tournament in Edmonton, they placed a respectable third.

As well as Pew, Okanagan players include Kelsey Hagardt of Enderby, Quin Mouncey of Armstrong, Kim Robbie and Theresa Lightfoot of Vernon, Shannon Sargent of Lumby, Michelle Mackay of Westbank, and Laura Taylor of Kelowna.
